Soul Bricks for the Soul Sand Valley

A new dark brown block set of bricks with stairs, slabs, walls and a chiseled variant using a ghastly image and allow crafting through the stonecutter. I would imagine it to have a smoother texture than wood since its more of a stone but that's not up to me. Anyways recipe time! Here's my suggestion how to craft Soul Bricks:

  • 1. Combine 4 soul soil in a 2 by 2 grid for 1 soul brick
  • 2. Combine 2 soul soil and 2 nether bricks(item) in a 2 by 2 grid for 4 bricks.

I'm not sure what the criteria for recipes are but the first soul brick recipe is for ease of access and the second just to include another forgotten item while it reminds people, they can smelt netherrack. Also, a soul soil recipe might be handy to craft more bricks just 4 soul sand in a 2 by 2 grid for 2 soul soil.

The dried ghast is currently located in an undesired biome. Adding this new block set can commemorate the journey it took in a more stylish way. Ghasts also roam that biome so most likely you'll pick some up soul sand or soil after they blast you and the new recipe tab will open naturally.

    This is an amazing idea! Happy Ghast plus new blocksets to make a cool home for Happy Ghast!

    What if both soul variants? 

    • Soul sand behaves like sand - craft it into soul sandstone then give it the full stone blockset. Smelt it to get smooth soul sandstone and give it the full blockset. 
    • Soul soil behaves like nether brick - smelt 1 into a brick, combine 4, and give soul bricks a full block set matching nether bricks.

    Now this leaves us with several interesting questions:

    • How is soul speed going to behave on this?
    • Should soul sand be a gravity block while soul soil isn't?
    • Should world-gen be updated to have layers of soul sandstone similar to the overworld? 
    • Smooth sandstone wall? 

    Still, that's a lot of assets to add to the game.

    Mojang be cooking with their updates and I'll be happy with what they deliver!

    It should be 4 soul sand equals one soul sandstone, similar to normal sand and sandstone. Soul sandstone could, wild idea, it could slow time down when you walk on it, causing you and everything around you to move slower. Chiseled soul sandstone could display a picture of a ghast, similar to how normal chiseled sandstone shows a creeper and red chiseled sandstone shows a wither. Soul sand shouldn't fall like normal sand, as this would hinder the creation of the wither. Soul soil could be used with nether brick to craft soul bricks.
