Even though the main purpose of the happy ghast is for building, it is still VERY slow, to the point that using it for any travel as Minecraft Live presented feels like an afterthought.
So, I suggest that drinking a slow falling potion when riding a happy ghast lets it fly faster. The idea here is that a slow falling potion makes you "lighter", thus making it easier for the happy ghast to carry your weight. The speed boost would last only as long as the potion, so you'll need to brew and carry many slow falling potions (which means obtaining many phantom membranes) if you want to maintain that boost. I believe this preserves the happy ghast's main purpose, meanwhile giving players who want to use it for travel the option but at a cost.
