The upcoming "happy ghast" should not only be happy. I think it only being happy makes it a lot more difficult for players to map their own stories onto it; for instance, if a player is going for a grimmer tone in a build, then the happy ghast would currently clash quite a bit with that, despite how desirable it would be otherwise to have a non-destructive ghast in such a build.
I think the happy ghasts should have a variety of facial expressions, maybe the player could do things while they're still in their ghastling form to make them have different expressions, and whichever expression they have when they grow up sticks forever once they're an adult. Or it could just be random, that would be fine too.
It doesn't necessarily need to have a sad expression, but I think even it just being able to have a neutral expression would do a lot to help players map whatever stories they want onto it. So even if it just had the two expressions of either happy or neutral, I think that would do a lot.
Different expressions might complicate the placement of the goggles from the harness, but I think that that's a solvable problem and would be worth it to better enable the player to tell their own stories.
