Player Locator Bar should only show when you have a compass in your offhand

The player locator bar is a nice feature but I think it would be better if it only shows when you have a compass in your offhand. This would nerf the overpowered feature and make for better gameplay. It could also be always shown on easy mode, helping differentiate between the different gamemodes, and maybe it could show where you died if you hold a recovery compass instead. This is a nice feature but sometimes people want to see their xp or don't want to always know where everyone is.
