My kids rely on information in the Friends world list that is no longer available in the new/upcoming world select menu. Specifically, they use the world name as a social cue (it lets them know whether to freely join a game if their friend is online, to contact the friend separately to check first, or to avoid joining because it is a world the friend plays only with others). In the Worlds/Friends/Servers current UI, the name is very clearly visible for each world in the "Joinable Friends" list. In the new UI, I cannot see any way to determine the world name for a world that a Friend is playing.
Another piece of information that is missing that helps the kids and myself is the game version of the joinable friend. When one of the kids has issues connecting to a friend, it provides an easy first thing to check whether the kid's version matches the friend's version. Now that information is no longer visible, making connection tech support a step harder.
I suggest one of the following:
- Allow user to continue using the existing world select menu if they prefer (menu option)
- Add world name and game version information to the new Friends list in some way (preferably without needing an extra click or hover)
- Make "Friends" a top level tab in the new world select UI like it is in the current one, giving the extra screen real estate to provide the world name and game version information
