Something like hornwort could generate alongside seagrass in freshwater biomes and seaweed could generate alongside it in ocean biomes. I know this is kind of a small thing but I think it really could help to make these biomes feel just a little bit more unique in terms of foliage.
Certain ocean biomes could even have their own unique versions of this. Frozen oceans could have ice algae (hangs to the bottom of icebergs), sargassum on the top of lukewarm oceans, and something like dulse in cold oceans could all really help to further distinguish them from one another.
