java multiplayer

it would be really cool and much more useful if java had a multiplayer system as bedrock does. im not sure why i have to download mods on top of the ones i have just to play mods with my friends for free. i dont want to pay money every month just to be able to play with my friends, because is that not counterintuitive? i feel like so many more people would be inclined to play java (aka spend money on java+bedrock, leading to more money for you minecraft!!!) if multiplayer on java worked the same as bedrock
