As of some of the most recent snapshots, we are now able to specify the NBT data of recipe results. This is a dream come true for many data pack enthusiasts, myself included. While these changes are being made, and the feature is being implemented, I suggest that the devs consider adding support for NBT specific crafting ingredients. This would make the implementation of new sets of items to the game much easier for the typical player that doesn't want to mod but would like the freedom to customize the game. Just an idea, and since you were working on NBT support for recipes already, this could get added onto the list of features you might add.
