Grafting- Saplings can be planted on logs

What: I want Saplings to be able to be planted on Logs the same way they can be planted on Dirt. Why: A giant tree is one of the most popular builds to do. As of now, a player has to put Dirt on top of a tree to be able to grow another story/floor. It is annoying to keep track of those Dirt blocks to replace them with Logs for a clean "giant tree build". It also makes little sense, because in real life branches can be grafted onto a tree, that's how many fruit varieties stay consistent for generations. How: Mechanically, planting a Sapling on a Log would work the same as on Dirt. There could be a limitation that the Sapling has to be planted on the "rings" of the Log block, or in the "bark" side of a Stripped Log. As a stretch goal, this could allow for planting a Sapling sideways and the resulting tree would act as a branch of the main trunk of the tree.
