Intro
Recently, two bugfixes were introduced with the new 25w02a snapshot. These fixes have a very large impact on their respective communities, and this feedback post will explain what consequences each fix has.
MC-271065 - Diagonal movement is not normalized when crouching or using certain items
This issue impacts the PvP and PvE community. This diagonal movement is utilized during a bridging, which makes moving across a void or open air a good bit faster.
Introducing this bugfix would impact many years of PvP and PvE techniques developed in the history of Minecraft, such as speed-bridging and god-bridging.
MC-135192 and MC-261385 - Bubble columns act differently at the surface depending on non-air blocks
This issue affects the ice boat racing community. For ice boat racing, some tracks utilize this mechanic as a track recovery or run-off, while others use it for improved water elevators.
After a short investigation, the IBR community estimates that 1 out of 5 of all tracks will be impacted by this change, which will damage over 6 years worth of tracks.
Our hopes as a Community
Both communities implore you to reconsider these bugfixes. These changes will impact over a half a decade of players, memories made, and techniques developed.
After seeing how other feedback had impact on certain developments, we hope that this post will have a similar effect.
Thank You,
The Ice Boat Racing and & PvP Communities
