I'd like a way to disable telemetry in at least the client, and preferably also the game server, in Minecraft Java edition. I see now that the Java edition no long allows you to completely disable telemetry, only disable more advanced parts of the telemetry. I'm a privacy conscious individual, and I would prefer it if I could completely disable telemetry. I've read that one of the things that gets sent in the telemetry over the internet to the Microsoft is my XBox ID (even in Java edition on PC, now that Microsoft accounts are used for logins for even Java edition), and I've heard that this unique ID number is sent in plain text and is at risk of being intercepted in man-in-the-middle attacks, which could then be used to impersonate me. But it's not just that. The info overall that it sends are unique enough to identify me personally.
I politely request that another option be put into the game to disable all telemetry. So that the game no longer sends this info to Microsoft just when I'm playing the game normally. I don't need Microsoft constantly monitoring my game play. If there's a bug that needs fixing or some feature I think could be useful, I'll contact Microsoft myself like I'm doing now. Maybe others want to be monitored to help you guys improve the game, but I want at least the option to choose to not be monitored, so that I don't have to be if I don't want to be.
