It is currently relatively easy to edit villager trades with datapacks. It can be done simply by editing their loot table (or whatever the technical name is). It's even easier to edit the Bartering system in a similar way, but for some reason the Wandering Trader has been left out. To edit their trades you have to use data editing commands which are, in my opinion and I believe many others', quite confusing, and if you want randomisation it's even harder. There are plenty of people who want specific trades added or removed from the Wandering Trader, but there are very few datapacks that do this because of the difficulty involved in editing their trades. Making the Wandering Trader editable in the exact way we can edit normal villager trades would let people do so many creative things with the Wandering Trader in whichever way they want with a simple datapack.
For example, there are various skyblock mods that currently let the Wandering Trader sell a Lava Bucket. It shouldn't be necessary to mod the game for such a simply addition. I personally like the wandering trader mostly as is, but there are a couple of things I would like to add, and I don't have the knowledge to go around programming a mod for it, and as mentioned data editing commands are very confusing and rather impractical.
