I believe there should be a new type of hill or cliff biome-type that gives better and more life-like transition between steeper areas. I believe it would work well for allowing cave entrences to be more common. I also believe this should be added in a larger drop update, possibly even the Winter Drop.
These biomes would be inserted into a larger ecosystem based biome such as forests and plains, similarly to river biomes. The ground uses various patch texturing by scattering small patches of blocks in a larger base. It is important to state no secondary stone type is present on the surface down to at least 4 blocks (The blocks are andesite, diorite, granite, and dripstone.). Additionally cave entrances, that generate in these cliff biomes, should have an incredibly low chance of being an aquiffer and a probable chance of reaching deepslate. Finally snow is present in colder biome locations.
The biomes are characterized as either dirt cliffs or stoney cliffs:
■The Dirt Cliffs are made up of coarse dirt along with stone, gravel (Often near the course dirt.), and corresponding ore. Occasionally short grass or flowers may be present.
■The Stoney Cliffs are made up of cobblestone along with stone, gravel, and corresponding ore. Occasionally a goat may spawn here.
■The Grainulated Cliffs are made up of coarse dirt and cobblestone along with stone, gravel, and corresponding ore. Occasionally short grass of flowers may be present.
I believe this is one way to create smoother terrain.
