Minecraft's hostile mobs, especially in the Overworld, become very easy to deal with after some progress in the game, which takes away some of the excitement. I think the current AI of hostile mobs is quite basic, and the game would benefit from an improvement as follows:
Hostile mobs, like zombies, skeletons, and other enemies, would start with their current intelligence level but would progressively become “smarter” the longer they stay alive. As a mob survives, it would learn to recognize locations frequently visited by the player and could plan ambushes. Additionally, it would have the ability to “teach” this information to other mobs, forming groups that collaborate and coordinate attacks to hunt the player. To counter them, the player would need to eliminate them before they become more intelligent or light up areas to prevent their spawning, as is currently done. I believe this idea would be loved by both veteran and new players alike.
