There are so many spinoff games that could be made from Minecraft such as RTS, tower defence, and RPGs. But what would connect these together? There's no depth of story to Minecraft, no depth of characters, so how do you build an interconnected franchise? Is the blocky aesthetic and familiar mobs enough?
The builds! Keep the franchise focused on what the player creates.
What if you could take a copy of the castle you made in vanilla Minecraft and export it to the spin-off tower defence game? Take a copy of that awesome starter house and place it directly into that spin-off city builder?
I think this idea opens up opportunities for a player-focused Minecraft franchise, where vanilla Minecraft remains the foundation, and what the player does in vanilla can impact the player's experience in the spin-off games.
This could give a whole new depth of opportunity for spinoffs, and would further entrench Minecraft vanilla as a forever game.
