Shield needs to be able to be enchanted with the following enchantments

Thorns: Should be able to deal damage to mobs that bump into the shield or mobs that shoot things into shields (e.g skeletons, pillagers). Protection: Should be able to give additional protection to the player holding the shield attempting to block an attack. A new enchantment. Reflect: There should be an enchantment named ‘Reflect’ that can reflect an attack shot at the shield back at the person, mob or block that attempts to attack the mob or player. The enchantment should have levels I,II,III and IV. Please think about this carefully and let me know what you think.

  I'm curious what protection would do. On armor, protection grants a 4% damage reduction per level, resulting in a 64% damage reduction total when protection 4 is on all 4 armor pieces. A shield already blocks 100% of damage, so I don't see what impact this would have, unless it has some other effect?

  Thorns would be good, and so would reflect. I think knockback would be good as well, since shields already knock mobs back and knocking them back more would help you escape some sticky situations. Good idea!
