Crocodiles in Minecraft
Crocodiles would be neutral mobs like polar bears, attacking players if they get too close or when players stand still in their range. They would spawn in swamp and jungle biomes near water sources but not in mangrove swamps due to limited space. Crocodiles swim quickly but move slowly on land, and in water, they can blend into the environment by staying still, making them harder to spot.
Abilities:
- Lunge Attack: If a player or mob comes within 2 blocks, crocodiles will lunge and deal more damage if in water. This can be dodged.
- Death Roll: When a croc grabs an entity, it performs a damaging roll. Players can escape by either waiting 5 seconds or dealing 4 hearts of damage.
- Pacify: Crocodiles can be pacified and bred for 5-10 minutes with raw meat.
- Reproduction: Breeding with raw chicken results in eggs similar to turtles, hatching into baby crocodiles that hide in water until grown.
- Combat: Arrows won’t affect them; melee attacks will.
- Drops: Crocodiles (rarely) shed Crocodile Scales as they grow up, which can be combined with a shield in the smithing table to craft a Reinforced Shield.
Reinforced Shield:
- Provides 20% higher knockback to projectiles, bouncing them back at enemies.
- Offers knockback resistance, reducing pushback from strong mobs like Ravager or Iron Golem.
- The player can dye the shield’s edge using any color. This feature would give players more aesthetic freedom, complementing the existing banner shield customization
