Desert Sentinel – Concept for New Hostile Mob
Appearance:
The Desert Sentinel is a skeleton or mummy clad in worn leather armor with a yellowish tone to blend with the desert biome. It wears a cracked leather helmet or a veil that partially covers its face, leaving glowing amber or orange eyes visible, reminiscent of the desert sun. Its aged armor is covered in sand and dirt, reinforcing the idea of an ancient, forgotten warrior. The Sentinel wields a rustic wooden spear with a stone or bone tip, and occasionally carries a weathered wooden shield. It also has tribal ornaments, such as bone bracelets, and drops small fragments of sand as it moves, creating a light dust cloud around it.
Behavior and Mechanics:
- **Groups**: The Desert Sentinel rarely travels alone, often found in patrols of 2-3, roaming desert areas at night.
- **Melee and Ranged Attack**: It primarily attacks with its spear in close combat but can throw its spear at short range, making it a threat both in melee and from a distance.
Drops and Crafting:
- When defeated, the Desert Sentinel drops **fragments of its spear**. By combining two spear fragments with a stick, players can craft a **rustic spear**, a special weapon with a reach of 5 blocks, allowing players to strike enemies from a greater distance than with traditional swords.
Exclusive Enchantment:
- Alongside the Desert Sentinel, a new exclusive enchantment for the rustic spear will be introduced. The enchantment, which could be called **"Desert Venom"** or **"Dry Toxin"**, allows the spear to apply poison for 10 seconds to struck enemies. The enchantment may have scalable levels, increasing the poison’s intensity or duration.
