Pidgeons
We tamed pigeons over 5,000 years ago for food, messages, and racing due to their homing abilities. By the 20th century, new communication tech like the telegraph replaced pigeons, and urbanization made them adapt to cities. With less human use and their growing numbers, they began to be seen as pests, leading to their reputation as "vermin" today. We need to remind ourselves that we humans domesticated them, and we should learn to love them again instead of viewing them as pests.
Tameable Pigeons
Players can tame wild pigeons using seeds or bread. Once tamed, Pigeons can be given an item to carry and will fly to a designated perch to deliver it. Pigeons will load chunks as they travel, ensuring they reach their destination and then return home safely.
Perch Block
The Perch block acts as a landing block / destination point for pigeons (and other birds like Parrots, as long as it's not bound for a Pidgeon). Players can set unique markers for each perch, like right clicking with a colored wool block to attach a colored ribbon, allowing pigeons to differentiate between various destinations. To send a pigeon, players simply attach an item to the pigeon and specify the target perch by right clicking the Pidgeon with the correlated wool block.
