Since in the night the entire world is always full of hostile mobs, the player feel always a bit scared. Then imagine they found the Pale Garden. They know there is the Creaking inside, but they know the mobs won't attack them anymore and would not be able to see them again while they are inside, acting like a spell barrier.
It wuold mean that during the night the player feel safe inside the pale garden but at the same time terrified because he knows he could meet a Creaking, fueling the sensation of anxiety experienced by the player.
Maybe while the player stays at the edge of the woods, he sees chests or barrels full of loot inside, which invite them to go deeper, and sometimes are really there, while sometimes are visions to attract them inside the forest.
I took inspiration from The Lord of the Rings, when they enter a forest so scary that not even the enemies would dare enter.
I think this would add vary much to the Pale Garden, making it a dangerous place even if the player perceives it as a place to get away from the dangers of hostile mobs, making it effectively a trap. The player knows it is a trap, but to escape from hostile mobs he takes the risk, but he must be careful, fueling even further the feeling of anxiety he feels inside the Pale Garden.
