My idea is that when a creaking heart is mined with a silk touch pickaxe instead of an axe, the block is turned into a normal wood block but drops an item called Creaking Amber, which has three uses.
- Creaking Eye: This block emits a redstone signal when a player looks at it. This will give redstone engineers an interesting new way to power their circuits. Its texture mimics the face of the creaking, so it also has great building potential.
- Amber Lantern: This highly versatile small golden lantern can be placed on any side of a block or connect to string or chains nearby. It is on by default but when it is connected to redstone it adopts the same light level as the inputted power level. This is a block that would appeal to builders as a new way to illuminate a space.
- Garden Heart: This unique block is a planter that can have one flower planted in it. If a player comes within one chunk of the planter, all flowers in their inventory of the variety matching that in the planter will vanish and the player gains levels equal to the number of flowers of a new status effect: Tethered. For each level, one of the player's hearts gets a golden overlay and becomes frozen. It cannot be lost by normal means (fall damage, etc.) but is lost as soon as the effect wears off, which only happens if the player leaves the range of the Garden Heart or the heart or its flower is broken. This has an interesting appeal that mimics the creaking and opens up a new way to play.
