Some sounds are significantly louder than others in Minecraft-understandably so, but it scares the daylights out of me when they happen. I'm autistic and sound sensitive. Sudden loud noises are terrifying, sometimes even when I am expecting them.
One of the new songs in 1.21- Yakusoku by Kumi Tanioka. It's a beautiful song, but at minute marker 2:30 it is so suddenly loud that it sends me into a panic almost every time it plays. I have created an edit of the song for personal use reducing that segment of the song by 5 dB, but a more robust volume limit accessibility setting would be an ideal solution.
Other loud, startling sounds: multiple mobs in the same area, multiple mob deaths at the same time, 2 or more endermen screams at the same time, placing an anvil or an anvil falling, redstone item overactivity-like when you set something up wrong. There are probably several more cases that are not immediately coming to mind.
I am picturing the setting as a check box that activates a slider that makes a test tone when the slider is released. After the slider is set, it limits the maximum gain on the volume setting.
This accessibility setting is different but related to the volume setting.
