We've touched on this before, this is a great idea for an update though there are a handful of ways to make it just that much better.

    1. Biome fog - e.g. that of the nether. A light/dark grey, would also have to be denser than other times fog is used to make the biome feel even more claustrophobic. (Also maybe disable night vision in this biome, it would look horrendous with brightened colours).

    2. Increase mob spawn rates for hostile mobs - Two reasons for this, A. Makes biome for dangerous and would make it stand out to other biomes and B. provide some utility to the biome, being a better place to build mob farms and the like.

    3. We need incentive - The wood is amazing, but frankly its not enough, maybe increased spawn rates of pillager outposts with increased loot (parallel to witch huts). Knowing that mansions spawn in dark oak forests and this is an sub-biome of that some pillager themed structures and loot would work quite well. I really don't know how you would incorporate this but I'm throwing ideas at the wall.

    4. Buff The Creaking - The team was likely going to do this anyway as what we were shown was just a dev build, but it isn't enough of a challenge to be interesting yet.

Anyhow, loved the update, alonside smaller drops. Honestly, 15 years of updates and still free, you're treating us mojang :D

First, I want to commend Mojang on the new drop system they have recently introduced. In 2024 alone we have gotten so much new content. First it was Armored Paws, then it was 1.21, and soon we will be getting Bundles of Bravery. And, regarding the new Pale Garden biome, I think it looks really good. It provides an interesting atmosphere, and the new wood type is already my new personal favorite. I can't wait to use it. While this biome does look great so far, I do have some suggestions that could improve it even more:

    • Biome Fog: I think adding biome fog to the Pale Garden would help really sell the eerie atmosphere that is has. Making it harder to the player see around them with the help of fog adds some fine challenge to the task of dealing with the creaking.
    • A Potential Rename: The name "Pale Garden" makes me picture more of a mystical, fantasy garden or grove. It doesn't really match with the actual look or feeling of the biome from what we've already seen. Maybe a name like "Pale Forest" or "Pale Woods" would suit it better.
    • More Tree Variety: While I'm sure what we have seen in the Minecraft Live is still a work in progress, I think there should be more variety in the tree sizes and shapes. Right now, the new trees bear a striking resemblance to some other tree types in the game. Instead, what if the pale garden consisted of taller, densely packed trees that cover the skylight?

These are just some basic ideas that I just wanted to suggest. And again, I just want to commend Mojang for their hard work. Unlike most of the community, I am really looking forward to this new drop, and I understand the difficulty of not only designing new mechanics, but also the task of implementing them in two different versions of the game.

I think the Pale garden would be a great biome to introduce fallen logs. Adds to that low visibility by having something to trip over. It could have a special mushroom grow on it called a "Ghost Cap" that grants 3 seconds of invisibility to help lose the Creaking.

Another addition is maybe an assortment of 3 flowers that animate in the wind like seagrass. I think the subtle moving of a flower would make the forest feel different and maybe a bit ethereal. Also the subtle movements can play tricks on your mind.

Lastly. White pumpkins(great idea not from me) Used with soul torches. Carved to look like Ghasts maybe.

    -fallen logs/mushroom

-wispy flowers or flowers that look like eyes blinking. Motion is important to feed different.

    -white pumpkin PALE PUMPKINS. PALUMPKINS.

A biome feature could be a clearing in the trees, which contains an oddity. An oddity being a Pale Garden only POI. Graveyard. Maze. Moon Dial. Statue. A hole that goes all the way down. Just some odd stuff.

In all, I think its missing that eerie, strange, odd feeling that was talked about.

The Pale Garden needs some pale flowers on it. Some flowers that give gray and light gray dyes. Also, it would be great if we get a fourth kind of frog and froglight that emits a pale/weak light.

Like how the Taiga biomes have the Sweet Berry Bush as an obstacle, I think it'd be interesting if the Pale Garden had an equivalent.

Perhaps this unique plant could inflict mining fatigue for a short period, as to foreshadow the unfriendliness of this biome, without being immediately harmful as to not disturb the initial unsettling atmosphere.

Additionally, this could serve as an obstacle in the event you're frantically trying to mine for Creaking Hearts. Akin to how the Soul Sand Valley slows you down on top of frequently spawning Skeletons, who are best countered by fast movement.

For a pale GARDEN it certainly lacks flowers and fauna. New flowers that works the same way as pink petals (you can add multiple on one block) would be awesome addition, even if in less saturated colors.

Hopefully the new tree is just a placeholder for now. Hopefully the end result would be more unique type of trees with different heights.

The new leaves should stay pale colored even when placed outside the biome similarly to azalea keeping its color

Please rename the biome to "Pale forest". Currently, this biome doesn't feel like a garden. The definition of a garden is: "a piece of ground adjoining a house, in which grass, flowers, and shrubs may be grown." There is nothing about this biome that meets this definition of garden. Renaming it to pale forest would make more sense since this biome is full of trees. The definition of forest is: "a large area covered chiefly with trees and undergrowth." Forest also makes more sense as most overworld biomes have the name forest in them.

there is no reason to go at night so maybe add a reason to go at night

There needs to be some kind of structure or drop from the pale garden.

The atmosphere is amazing but after the novelty of exploring it once or twice every subsequent time you go there, you'll think "hey there's that creepy new biome" then run up to the edge of it grab a sapling and some moss and never go back.

It seems a waste to put so much effort into a creepy new mob with such a unique functionality for most players to not interact with it.

Also, idk if it's just in the snapshot but I feel like other mobs shouldn't spawn in the biome it really makes the creaking feel like a secondary enemy compared to the 20 creepers that spawn around you at night.

The biome usually manages to give off the crowded scary vibe, but some the pale gardens I've generated were somewhat small, and on hills or cut by ravines, and turn out to look and feel very open.

I've seen many people mention fog so I'd suggest a block that spawns in the biome (like a fruit on the trees or flower on the ground) that affects players nearby with fog or some vision hindering effect at night. the block plays particles when affecting a player (similar to how mob spawners work) and can be disabled by breaking it.

This will help with the atmosphere of the biome, It also allows players to craft their own experience, they can break these blocks to remove the effect or silk touch it and incorporate it in builds.
It also fits in to the gameplay mechanic of the creaking, where you interact with them by breaking a block.

The trees give the right atmosphere but the leaves on top are too flat and their heights are all the same, so its a bit too easy to run on top of them and ignore the creakings

I feel that a dense fog would make the vibe of the area even more unsettling than it already is.

I also feel like the trees should have a more unique, twisted shape, like willow trees.

I think it'd be cool if the leaves broke underneath you or could slip through them like powdered snow, it would help prevent people from just going over the biome just like you can with dark oak forests

Pale Garden should have some sort of additional draw to go to it. Perhaps some loot that only appears at night?

since it's a garden, i'd suggest more plant life; unique flowers, ferns, grass, etc.

maybe some dilapidated structures too. nothing too fancy, just a stone arch or wall here and there

I wish, there was another block in the Pale Garden. I think something like a mud block, but the color is something between the pale moss block and grass block. So we can make better gradients to the pale moss block, while building pathes.
The wet feeling of a mud block variant makes the ambient more interesting.

Make it so mobs with glowing eyes like Endermen and Spiders have a bit higher chance of spawning in this biome. Not enough to break the balance, but enough to make it more creepy and halloween.

I think the color of the grass in the biome is too dark, and does not blend well with the pale moss that also generates there. It should be made more pale.

Would absolutely love to see fog fill this biome, even during the day. Also the name Pale “Garden” sounds like there should be more flora: Maybe some grey-scaled bushes/flowers. Grey-scaling the dirt with a biome specific gradient would look really nice. Also really like the white pumpkin idea.

Need a double tall flower of some sort to add to the "garden" name, maybe black so that there's another way to farm black dye?

When placing pale moss, ensure the ends of it can be sheared to stop it growing (and please finally add this feature to vines, it's long overdue)

The pale garden needs more variety. Right now it just looks like a reskinned dark oak firest. Make the trees taller having more branches and vines all over.

Prehaps the garden could have a higher change of spawning a zombie village or make it have zombie sieges more often. It just needs something in it, a structure of some kind.

Prehaps it could have more flowers or other plants, maybe even fake Creaking.

Many people have been saying that the biome should have fog to add to the eerie atmosphere, and considering its called the Pale "Garden", I think an interesting way to add it is to create some sort of flower that emits a dense fog.

    • Biome is great but needs flora to reflect it's name. If flowers are added, they should use the same colour palette as the rest of the biome and should look like they're in a state of decay.
    • Thick fog throughout the entire biome, akin to the lowest render distance, would benefit the atmosphere, aswell as taller and or more crooked trees.
    • Could also add another Pale Wood variant with glowing spots on it to trick the player into thinking it sees a Creaking in the distance.
    • Fireflies could also work in this biome as a substitute for the previous point. Could then be integrated into Swamps.
    • Players still need an incentive to return to the Pale Forest.

You could add dense fog to make the pale garden even scarier, or even add perpetual night for this biome, so there would be creaking no matter what time of day it was.
