Much like the end cities, Deep dark cities are challenging to find and navigate through. An argument can be made that the Deep Dark Cities pose a greater threat and tougher challenge to both old and new players compared to End Cities. However, the loot found in End City chests are much more desirable and sought after than loot found within the Deep Dark. A player will take a high risk for a high reward. This is proven with players wanting to seek out End City Ships to acquire an Elytra, the best variant of movement of travel, and the newly added Mace, the most powerful weapon, found from a Vault in a Trial Chamber. Either the Deep Dark Cities need to have a more valuable loot in chests that will convince more players to explore them and sneak past the toughest mob in the game, or give the cities something powerful and exclusive to them that will make the player want to travel to one as soon as they can.
One idea is to broaden out the loot already inside the chest, such as including all the music disks, all armor pieces but keeping the pants as most common, all tool types, and including netherite variants of tools and armor but at low chances, etc. Another is to include an exclusive item more desirable than a compass. Perhaps chests include a new item that creates a potion that prevents hostile mobs from attacking and ignores the player while the potion effect is still active. Lastly the Warden will drop an item upon defeat which lights the Deep Dark City Portal!
