I love the implementation of the new minecraft:consumable item data component, it's a fantastic expansion on the previously limited food component, but I think it could be taken a step further. In addition to the effect fields present on the component, why not add data pack functions?
Similar to the recent data-driven enchantments, this would greatly expand what a consumable can do. As an example, data pack makers could create a consumable item that teleports the user to a given location on use, add special-use items for minigames, or make limited-use special attacks and magic spells. Data pack makers could find a huge variety of new opportunities by adding data pack functions directly on specific items.
