Minecart physics are bad

The current Minecart trajectory path is awful.

When the Minecart reaches the apex, it suddenly loses all forward velocity and falls out of the sky.

This is like saying: If a Batter hits a ball on a path for a home run, the pitcher then says "Oh no you don't" while using his mind powers to stop the ball mid-air and fall in his glove.
