The pufferfish poison is a neurotoxin that is bad not only for humans, but for many animals. As such, feeding pufferfish to tamed wolves without negative side effects seems like a bad idea. (Cats don't accept pufferfish either, so why would dogs eat them just like that?) I know this feature has been in Bedrock edition for a while now, but I only became aware of that issue since it was added in Java snapshot 24w33a.
I suggest a couple of options to change this behavior:
- Not allow feeding pufferfish at all.
- Feeding pufferfish applies negative effects to the tamed wolf, juts like it does to players. (Rotten flesh is a different story, dogs seem to have a higher resistance against that kind of spoiled food.)
- The pufferfish item is spit out immediately. (That's apparently what happens when a predator tries to eat a juvenile pufferfish, which doesn't have the size and spines as mechanical defenses yet, but does have the poison in its skin already.)
