This suggestion works in several steps, has several benefits and is inspired by the secret redstone room at the center of Ancient Cities.
Mojang, if you want new players to try and understand Redstone, DO NOT put your examples at the very bottom of the world in one of the hardest places to reach, where you're surrounded by an hostile and stressful environment (in which you may not want to remain), in a very well hidden room. This defeats the whole point!
A thing the game desperately needs is a type of prefab build which could be generated in almost every biome ON THE SURFACE. This type of build would contain at least one redstone circuit. There would be many variants of this build to explain several circuits. A lectern with a book explaining things in text would probably be too much to ask, but it would certainly help.
Each variant could have a different way to enter. All of them would be fairly obvious and easy to access, involve some level of redstone (from the simple iron door with a button on each side to piston door), and all of them should offer safety from outside mobs so you can feel safe to study the redstone circuits in display.
The build could also contain a hidden chest which could have, for example, pieces of a music disk for a song themed around technology and electricity?
The build could be made using bricks and waxed exposed copper blocks to express age.
A cooler solution would be to create a new advanced and updated blockset for iron blocks could be made for this.
