    in my opinion, the best way to inhibit animal hunting in Minecraft is to change peaceful mobs natural spawning. should they spawn only along with chunk generation, if all of them are killed in an area, most players' main food source is over. we would have to be more mindful about them. i reckon most of us don't want more mobs as useful as bats.
