Wither on locator map

There has been many point in playing where I’ve fought a wither, died, and have tried getting my stuff back. Many times, I do, however, the wither I was fighting at the time has all but disappeared. I’ve searched hundreds of blocks looking for it, and have yet to find it. Having the wither, and other future bosses, show up on a locator map would help. Or maybe it could be that the wither has to be named first, before being on the map.
