Minecraft is seriously devoid of birds. Birds are one of the most diverse group of invertebrates on the planet and would be an amazingly spectacular addition to the game! Types of birds and possible mechanics they could feature:
Raptors: Can be found throughout the world in a variety of different raptor species variants. Can be tamed to help players hunt rabbits, chickens or other such small animals
Ducks/Loons/Grebes: a new addition to Minecraft’s waterways. There are tons of gorgeous waterfowl species. Some of which are found in ponds and rivers, others out in the open ocean. Could serve as a secondary mob that drops meat and feathers when slain. Different types of waterfowl could be found in different biomes
Songbirds: an insanely diverse group of birds. Could be the tropical fish equivalent on land. I personally request that North American wood warblers be added to the game. They are a very visually impressive group with beautiful and unique songs. Some are even rare/endangered and could serve as a nice opportunity to draw attention to a species that needs help! They are also found in a variety of habitats and specific types could be found in particular biomes of Minecraft.
Grouse/Groundfowl: Could be a wild alternative to chickens. Could add turkeys, prairie-chickens, pheasants, etc. Could be a fun alternative to just a basic chicken.
Shorebirds/sandpipers: another diverse group of species. Could have a mechanic to give them something and they’ll find you treasures
Thx!
