Now that the Tricky Trials is here, we got a lot of things to work around with datapacks. This update added something I was wondering for a while in the game, custom NBT directly in the crafting table.
It opened a lot of things on custom item creation, making modding less far from datapacks.
But what's next ?
- Custom block model ! Adding the option to modify the display model of some blocks to create our own custom block in a fully supported way instead of tricky edit (like armor stands or display entities).
- Custom item tabs and ID ! Being able to attribute through the creation process items with a custom datapack prefix and registering it to a new tab would be so much appreciated. It would permit to create a more flexible way to give items, entities and blocks from datapacks and only affecting the displayed information. For example, I take a stone block, retexture it as a Mossy stone block and give it the name of "Ultimate Mossy Stone" in my "SuperDatapack", I would be able to display the id superdatapack:ultimate_mossy_stone, being able to place it and having it in my creative custom tab.
- Bring resources to the datapack ! It is really cool to bring custom content like sounds, textures, or even translations in them, but we should be able to add it directly with it and not from a separated ressourcepack
Optional idea
Being able to modify structure generation to replace vanilla content (e.g : replace containers by vaults, wink wink).
