So fans can suggest different fanons for you to adapt from. Some concepts I like are:
-Illagers are outcasts who experiment with life and death.
-Phantoms are undead ender dragons revived by the illagers.
-Steve is Herobrine but lost his memory. The times he sees Herobrine are just remnants of his memory messing with his mind, like PTSD. Good for a main character arc.
-Endermen are descendants of Ancient Builders, transformed due to living in the End on a diet of chorus fruit.
-There was a race of Ancient Builders responsible for a lot of what is happening in the present day.
-Endermites are a malfunction.
-Piglins were once a great civilization.
-The Nether used to be biodiverse with glaciers in it. The piglins and builders are responsible for what it is now.
-Giant sniffers used to live in the Nether.
-The Warden and Wither have fought before.
-Ender pearls and end portal frames are technology.
-Shulkers and guardians are golems.
-Steve can link himself to beds, which is how he respawns. He doesn't respawn if he has no bed.
-The illagers tried to copy the builders, similar to a cargo cult.
-Steve, Alex, and the others are the last of the builders, who only recently found out about each other.
-Villager news is canon.
