So when the mace was added, I new that people would be scrambling to get the new best weapon. The problems with nerfing the mace as much as they did include: less incentive to go to the trial chambers, less incentive to use or even keep the ominous bottle a feature, less excitement about the update, and much more. This is because the mace is much less balanced of a weapon, due to all the nerfs given to it the practically made it a mid-game weapon. These changes included the nerf to the base damage, and the nerf to the damage rate per fallen block, but to be completely honest, you could easily remove on feature to balance out the other in this situation, so my suggestion is to revert the base damage and make it attack as powerful as the diamond sword now that the attack speed of the weapon and damage per fallen block was nerfed. That would d make it so that it can still one shot people in netherite armor, but it still attacks slower, and you have to fall from a higher height than when it was first added. Very well balanced, and still the most powerful weapon in game, insentivising people to explore as much as possible.
