Ability to swap between piston sounds with a device

My idea is keeping both the old and new piston sounds. Pistons on their own would sound like usual if you want to keep the sound, but if you want the sound to be quieter so it is not as loud, you could place this device on it. I was thinking of a concept, like putting wax on copper blocks. You would be able to easily craft this, put it on the piston, and now it is quieter. I would also have the ability to remove it just like an axe to a waxed copper block. You would use a tool to click the piston, then the device comes off of the piston. I was thinking it would be called a silencer.
