Originally when I found out about this change, I was happy because machines I would have around my base involving pistons would no longer annoy me. However, I realized that the old piston sound gave many piston focused redstone builds such as large-scale flying machines and large piston doors a very mechanical and dominant presence which the new sound takes away. I can see the applications for the new sound, like making silent contraptions or doors in order to add new sounds with note blocks or to be secretive. Piston related builds around bases would also be better with this change. However, the majority of piston machines are now quite lacking. I propose that the new sound will only be applied to a new block, the silenced piston. By combining a carpet block with a basic piston, the same way you would make a sticky piston with a slimeball, you can create this block. It functions the exact same, but it has the new sound. Combining a slimeball with a silenced piston will make a silenced sticky piston. This way we can bring the best of both worlds into Minecraft.
