So I know that there are a lot of similar posts, but this one is more elaborated.
So by now most people know of the new piston sound and most people don't seem to like it, so here's a possible solution:
Keep the old piston sound (maybe make it a bit quieter) but make it able to be silenced using one of the methods:
1. Waxing it (could have multiple levels of sound, and could be un-waxed just like copper)
2. Waterlogging it (similar to skulk sensors), though this would be a bit confusing since redstone isn't supposed to mix with water
3. Clicking it with a water bottle (could be seen as oiling it up to make it quieter)
4. Surrounding it with wool in the crafting table (wool amount = how quiet it is)
5. Make a new item called oil and have that be used to silence it (might not fit Minecraft though)
Extra: all of these options instead of silencing it completely could change the sound to the new quiet one and have the old one be the default
Extra extra: I posted a similar idea in a youtube comment and it has over 4.3k likes, so people seem to like this idea.
