Let's talk about the new Minecraft Launcher Home Page!

In the official Minecraft Launcher, we have just released a new feature under the “experimental” banner: The New Home Page.  

This new Home Page aims to be your basecamp into the Minecraft experience on PC. Here, you can do all the most basic Launcher functionality, from launching games, to accessing Quick Play, to finding out News about what’s going on in the world Minecraft.

If you want to give it a try, go into the Launcher’s “General” Settings tab, scroll down to the “Experimental Features” section, and click the “Enable HomePage” option. Once you do, your “News” section will change to the brand new “Home” layout.  

We would love to hear your feedback as we continue fine-tuning the Home Page. We want to know what you think and how this works for you, so please feel free to add your comments and thoughts under this post. Along with your general feedback, we also have some specific questions we’d like you to consider: 

  • What do you find useful about the new Home Page? 
  • Are there any key functionalities you feel are missing? 
  • Does anything feel like it’s in the wrong place? 
  • Was anything you’re used to accessing difficult to find? 
  • Is there anything you see here that you don’t think you need?

    Hello dear moderator/developper,

    Thank you so much for this new home page, i like it a lot. I enabled it on my launcher and i think i will let it that way. I wanted to give my feedback about it so here i am, telling you what noticed was wrong/could be better as a  regular user of this beloved launcher :

    - The page doesn't scroll when my mouse is on the left side of the page, where all the Minecraft games icons are.

    -The pictures (besides the "new home page" one) are a bit pixelised/480p styled

    -The new snapshots/releases changelogs's pictures are at the wrong quality ratio (streched)

    -A "wiki" button to open the wiki directly in the launcher without going through an internet browser would be very useful.

    -Just a detail but i think the "Minecraft: Java Edition" and "Patch Note" pins on the news could be a little smaller/less noticeable because they look a bit too large/in the wrong place. I would personally put them further down the rectangles.

    Anyway thank you again for bringing us such amazing features in the games and all the applications/websites/etc related to it !

    i think that the quickplay buttons should be bigger, and the news should be smaller when displayed.

    The quick play features definitely need to be bigger and more noticeable, as of now, they seem too small compared to the giant banner.

    I Feel Like The Whole Point Of A Launcher, Playing The Game, Has Lost All Focus.

    The Play Button's Size Is Absolutely Miniscule In Comparison To It's Importance, And The Installation Name Has Too Little Room. It's Position Is Counter-Intuitive, Seeming More Like A Header Of Categories At A Glance.

    The Sidebar Looks Out Of Place, And Laying Them Out Horizontally Would Make Them And The Text Box To Of Left Of Them Look More Natural And Pleasing. This Might Leave To Little Room For The Cycling Images Vertically, However. In Event It Does, Aligning Them To The Left Next To The Text Box Would Be A Much Better Option. With It's Current Spot, The Text Change Is A Little Too Subtle.

    The Article Images Are Far Too Low Resolution To Take Up As Much Space As They Do, And With How Much Of The Screen Sits There Looking Blurry, I Find It Hard To Even Look At. (of course, this issue largely easy to fix moving forward, so i hope it will be.)

    I Think It Would Do Well To Seperate Patch Notes And News Into Their Own Seperate Categories, As Well.

     

    In My Humble UI Design-Loving Opinion, It's Jank, It's Bloated, And I Don't Like It. 5/10.

    Hope I'll Be Able To Keep In Off In The Future.

    Edit: After Some Thought, I Think I Was Being Too Hopeful With The Implementation. I'm Scoring This A 2.5/10.

    Launcher is a very good feature, but it could use working:
     First of all, play buttons should be bigger and maybe relocated since that is the main reason players   open the launcher.
     "Whats New" and "Settings" buttons can be at the Home page to allow the user to close the tab at left   using settings.
     Right bar (guide for begginers, addons for minecraft, realm subscription) is basically useless

     Launcher home page icon (the one with sheep steve and other mobs) can be cuztomizable, such as   adding a button or an option at settings that allows it, such as preset images user can choose, or   images user can upload from their computer, maybe even an option to show the next update news that   when clicked plays the video, that way players that doesnt follow updates using social media can also   be informed just by using the launcher

    Thanks Mojang team for asking the users for opinions, it is something lot of companies dont do and we appericiate it

    Minecraft：Legend的美术风格可以用无聊来形容，建议别把它作为这个伟大世界观的一部分，不过这个新的启动界面倒是很酷，另外，我希望能够保留直接在home page里启动自己的世界的功能，因为这真的非常方便。

    The launcher is clean, but I think the additions need to be improved, like a little game, a music next to and a animation of minecraft.
    I think there's a better place to launch the game.

    Really loving the new look for the launcher, however, I think it would be really cool if there were some themes for the launcher that players could unlock by achieving certain things in game. Like, Idk, a Nether theme for the launcher if you get to the nether in a survival world. That would give players more of an incentive to play in survival mode and really play in survival.

    Looks nice but prefer the play button at the bottom and larger, having the Quick Play buttons next to the play button is good. The list of installations could do with lines between the rows. Also not a huge fan of the large "ads" rather than an artistic still image.
