Systematic (not random) ways to find structures instead of luck/cheats

The game has lots of cool underground structures which are interesting to explore if you already know the location of them, but the best way to find them (cheats excluded) seems to be just mining in a straight line and hoping to get lucky. This isn't very fun and turns me off trying to search for them because the actual search is so monotonous.

I think it would be a great addition if there was a systematic way of finding all underground structures with methods like eyes of ender for strongholds or woodland maps for mansions. This would make getting to them more fun and feeling like you're always able to make progress rather than just hoping to get lucky.
