Hear me out before you say that this would be overpowered.
As of right now, the ominous vault has an 8.3% chance of dropping a heavy core, which is required to craft a mace. Ominous vaults can only be used once per player, so heavy cores are rare and access to them is very limited. If you complete a trial chamber and don't find a heavy core, you're out of luck and you need to find another chamber.
This poses a problem for people with long-term worlds. If you have a world that you consistently play on, having to explore a large portion of your world every year in order to access the new update features is detrimental because it increases the file size of your world a lot.
To avoid world-bloat, I propose a solution that would also add replayability value to the Trial Chambers, even if it is a bit grindy: make normal vaults infinitely repeatable, and give them a 2% chance of dropping a heavy core.
