The new mace is cool, but I feel like adding two items to craft it is a bit forced instead of reusing existing game materials, mase is good but not good enough to be super complicated to get. So here's the idea I was thinking:
Instead of introducing new materials, let's tier the mace from wood to netherite. We could start with a simple recipe using one block of any material (letting players use it in the early stages with a wooden mace).
Additionally, could introduce tool perks for mase, where crafting any tier of mace unlocks the ability to enhance it further. Players could do this by adding wind charges and the breeze rod at a smithing or crafting workbench, turning the mace into a upgradeable tool, and of course keeping the requeriment of visit the trial chambers to get the good part of the tool.
To make the mace even more unique, we could add an exclusive enchantment called "Stumping" (max 3 levels), which increases both the stumping radius and damage.
Lastly, allowing the mace to accept other enchantments like Mending and Looting would further enhance its versatility and usefulness.
