The main files for Java edition are very easy to find. The launcher on the other hand, oh boy. Currently, if installed using Microsoft store (which I did), then you have a very unpleasant surprise. Whether you are trying to add Minecraft as a 3rd party steam application or install optifine, you're in for some trouble. minecraftlauncher.exe is currently located in the Windows Apps folder. This is probably the most protected folder in windows. Somehow more protected than the OS files. Why is it so hard to use. Why. Just make it have the exe with the rest of the files for your worlds and version and skins and resource packs. Locate it in AppData and there won't be any problems.
