I like to raise an army of dogs in my worlds to fight for me, but the issue is if I ever accidentally punch/get punched by a friend I have to frantically hold back my entire army before they tear them apart. There are several ways this could be fixed, but any of them work as long as there's a solution that allows me to have dogs without endangering my friends.
One idea is an equipment like a muzzle that you can use to prevent dogs from attacking players so they only attack mobs. It seems a bit cruel and against Minecraft's theme so maybe a dog treat item you feed them instead that makes them tame towards players?
Then again, you might want your wolves friendly to some players but hostile towards your enemies. Maybe your friend has to be the one to befriend your dogs with treats to gain their trust? There's the possibility of your enemies using treats on your dogs as well, but that might be interesting emergent behavior- clever players can get the upper hand on their enemies by making friends with their dogs when they aren't looking. And maybe the dogs have to be sitting or not angry to eat treats, so this is something that must be premeditated and won't work during battle.
Given that Mojang has made wolves their project this update cycle I think this is the perfect time to make this update. None of these ideas are perfect, but I do think that theres an issue with dogs in multiplayer that should be fixed.
