Not sure if this has been mentioned before or if its coming with villager rebalancing, but villagers really have awful tracking when it comes to beds and workstations. In my opinion there should be extra parameters for linking with beds and workstations, for example I am currently building a viking style village, and linking villagers with their workstations and beds isn't too difficult, but keeping them connected is. I've lost count of how many times a villager wanders a few blocks too far from their bed only to connect to a different bed*, which is too far from their workstation, in turn disconnecting them from said workstation. Additionally, villagers have a seriously hard time finding their way to their bed, for instance finding the shortest route resulting in them standing outside the wall nearest their linked bed, making no attempt to relocate to any entrances or doors. While this isn't an overly pressing matter or a game breaking glitch, it does make artificial villages really difficult to create, and I feel some extra parameters such as their linked bed being close to their workstation, and understanding how to enter a house through the door as opposed to tracking a bed through walls, would really help.
*Also, I have encountered an issue of multiple villagers connecting to the same bed or workstation, which may have some sway over villagers disconnecting to their beds/workstations, but as far as I know that is being resolved in 1.21.
