Beyond the biome-specific trade changes (which I like btw), it would be nice in general to encourage players to make new villages far away. Even via boat (the best long distance villager transport rn), you need both your new site to be by water and for there to happen to be another village generated on the same water system. Its too restrictive and always feels a bit unimmersive to have to tightly manipulate the pathfinding of villagers.
One idea is making a "survivor" villager spawn in randomly, similar to the wandering trader (biome style of whatever biome they spawned in). They initially don't interact with anything and just wander around, maybe pathfinding around a nearby bed/jobsite for convenience. The only trade they have available is to hire/adopt them for lots of emeralds (64), which converts them to a normal, functional villager. That way, if we are patient, we can make villages anywhere more practically in an immersive way.
