I would like to see the Minecraft Java Edition server jar files released for old versions of Minecraft, including Alpha and Beta versions.
With the growing increase in popularity for older versions of Minecraft - whether that be for nostalgia or a different kind of challenge - more people will be looking for ways to play these versions with friends. The current ecosystem is unsafe for players with only unofficial server jars for older versions floating around, and no way to verify their integrity.
In my opinion, the best way would be to distribute them in the launcher's installation section like how the modern versions currently have the server jars available. It would also make sense to have an associated safety and security (log4j, etc.) warning for running the old servers.
At a minimum, I suggest the SHA256 hashes of all previous jars should be posted from an official source so that players have a way to verify their jars.
This really is about safety for the part of the community that just wants to play old versions of their favorite game.
