Redstone blocks and Sticky Pistons

For some reason when I tried to do a Redstone hack (that I use all the time in replacement in time of the observer spamming trick) and when I tried to make a new flying machine, there's a weird glitch where the Redstone block connected to a sticky piston (and maybe normal pistons but I haven't tried yet) when the sticky piston pushes the Redstone block away from the Redstone dust that powers a block that powers the pistons, the sticky piston stays extended, basically is seems that the Redstone block powers the sticky piston when extended away from any sort of Redstone dust or something to power the sticky piston.
