The copper bulb is fantastic for use in a 2x1 active-high t-flipflop. It isn't quite as useful when you need active-low behavior. I have two ideas for solving this:
Inverted copper bulb: combine a copper bulb and a redstone torch to create an inverted copper bulb. The same in every way except the dot is green instead of red, and the comparator read 15 when it is off, and 0 when it is on.
Inverted mode on the comparator: click once it goes into subtraction mode, click twice and the stick turns green and it outputs 15 minus the value it reads, so 0->15, 7->8, and 0->15.
