If 1.21 is about tinkering, I think there should be weather patterns that can be altered by in-game heat production (cooking, smelting, wild fires, etc.), blocks, and amount of animals.
It would be useful to alter hostile mob spawning, crop growth and harvest produce, animal breeding rates (maybe add chance for twins), and what animals spawn. It could be used for in-game survival biome altering which could potentially be a game-changer. Allowing players to make biomes snowier, drier, rainier, etc.
Producing too much heat in a cold biome will melt ice and will turn polar bears brown and arctic foxes into foxes. Adds a way to seed snow storms and rain. Can make a way to cause thunderstorms to better utilize channeling (and riptide) tridents.
This would also be used to teach players how to care for Earth and ensure the safety of our future.
