Copper Drains could make pass water through another block like a sponge but more technnical and dont make the the water actually disappear, only pass through a drain, but this can lead with valves that serves like a multi lever that can make systems look more different and mechanical like put to work a valve that automatic your farm with only just a redstone signal

This also could potentially add new Trial Chambers ocean sub-areas with you need to use valves to stop the water like puzzles
